My Approach to Therapy
Therapy shaped around you
Every person who comes to therapy brings something unique. A personal history, a particular way of making sense of the world, and ways of coping that once served a purpose but may no longer be working.
I don't apply a single method to everyone. I work integratively, drawing from a range of approaches and adapting to what each person needs in each moment. Sometimes that means going slowly. Sometimes it means sitting with difficult feelings rather than rushing toward a solution. Sometimes it means being direct.
What stays consistent is the quality of attention. I listen carefully, not just to what you're saying but to what's underneath it.
MY PRACTICE
HOW I THINK ABOUT HEALING
A few core beliefs shape every session
FEELING SAFE MATTERS MORE THAN ANY METHOD
When you feel genuinely heard and not judged — safe enough to be honest, to not know, to say the thing you haven't been able to say elsewhere, to fall apart a little — that's when real work becomes possible.
THE BODY KNOWS THINGS THE MIND HASN'T CAUGHT UP TO YET
Emotions live in the body. Trauma lives in the body. I pay attention to what the body is telling us, and I help you learn to do the same.
PATTERNS MAKE SENSE WHEN YOU KNOW WHERE THEY COME FROM
The ways you cope, protect yourself, and relate to others developed for good reasons. Understanding those reasons is often where real change begins.
YOU'RE NOT A PROBLEM TO BE FIXED
Therapy isn't about correcting something broken. It's about understanding, integrating, and growing at your own pace, in your own direction.
THERAPEUTIC APPROACH

How I work
I draw from a range of evidence-based and other therapeutic modalities, adapting to what each person needs. Through a lens that includes psychodynamic, trauma-informed and attachment theory, these include:
▸ Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)
▸ Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
▸ Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
▸ Parts Therapy / Internal Family Systems (IFS)
▸ Inner Child Healing
▸ Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)
Healing is personal.
And therapy should be too.
FIRST STEPS
What to expect
Sessions are 50 minutes and take place online via secure video accessible from anywhere in Ontario. We can start weekly and then space sessions out as things settle. Or, we can find a rhythm together based on what you need.
There's no script and no fixed agenda. We follow what feels most important. I'll ask you to slow down when something significant is passing too quickly. I'll challenge you when it seems useful, and I'll sit with you when it doesn't. Just one conversation at a time.
