About Michele and My Approach
Collingwood Psychotherapy

Real Life. Real Connection.

Healing is personal and therapy should be too.

My practice is grounded in trauma-informed, evidence-based and modern relational approaches. I encourage curiosity about your patterns in relationships, making sense of emotions that once felt overwhelming and gently noticing your body’s cues. These threads come together in a way that honours both your inner experience and the practical realities of your life.

A modern, holistic approach to therapy

Modern therapy has evolved beyond one-size-fits-all methods or simple talk-based sessions. It recognizes that healing happens through both understanding and experience in the mind, body, and relationships.

Finding your way back to yourself

What guides my work

Each person’s story asks for something a little different. Sometimes gentle curiosity, sometimes structure, sometimes depth.

Although professional training and experience are essential, effective therapy is less about following a method and more about listening both to your inner world and to what’s needed in the moment.

Therapeutic modalities and tools I draw from include:

â–¸ Attachment Theory: Understand how your past shapes how you connect, trust, and feel in the present

â–¸ Trauma Therapy: Gently process trauma and past experiences so what once felt stuck can begin to move and heal

â–¸ Parts Work / Internal Family: Reconnect with all aspects of yourself and bring compassion to the parts that carry pain or protection

â–¸ Psychodynamic Therapy: Explore unconscious patterns that influence how you think, feel, and relate to others and your life

â–¸ Mindfulness Practices: Cultivate awareness and presence so you can respond rather than react

â–¸ Somatic Practices: Tune into your body’s wisdom and learn to calm and regulate your nervous system

â–¸ Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): Notice and shift unhelpful thought patterns that contribute to stress or anxiety

â–¸ Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT): Deepen emotional awareness and foster self-acceptance and connection with others

Beyond the therapist chair

I believe in slowing down, asking thoughtful questions and creating space for what’s real. While I’m a Registered Psychotherapist, I'm also a fellow human who knows that life can be confusing, painful, beautiful, tender, and complex, often all at once.

Over the years, I’ve moved through many life stages from the carefree years of young adulthood to the busy, demanding years of parenting, work, unexpected changes and life upheavals. Now, with adult children creating lives of their own, I’m in a new chapter. These lived experiences have deepened my understanding of life’s complexities and continue to shape how I show up as a therapist: with openness, grounded insight, and genuine presence.
